Ellington IP44 Bathroom Pendant Light

Ellington IP44 Bathroom Pendant Light

Bathroom lighting has a job to do. It needs to be bright enough for the morning routine, but atmospheric enough to help you unwind at the end of a long day. Inspired by classic British design, our bathroom lights combine timeless style with practicality, proving you don’t have to choose between good looks and dependable performance.

Our collection brings signature industrial character into a space that's all too often overlooked when it comes to interior design. We design all our bathroom lights with an IP44 rating or above, making them suitable for the steam, splashes and humidity that come with the bathroom environment.

You’ll find traditional bathroom wall lights and classic bathroom pendants with a mix of plain, opal and prismatic glass. We also have metal shades for an industrial feel. Each light comes in a variety of finishes, including antique brass, polished chrome and more, making it easy to coordinate with your taps, shower fittings and bathroom accessories.

Our bathroom lighting works just as well in the family bathroom as it does in grand, period renovations or boutique hotels. Find the finishing touch to make your bathroom feel a little more special.

Looking for beyond the bathroom? Our Outdoor Lighting Collection is perfect for gardens, terraces and entranceways.

For the same timeless style throughout your home, take a look at our wall light and pendant light collections.

What lighting is safe to use in a bathroom? Bathrooms in the UK are divided into zones based on their proximity to water. Each zone has a minimum IP (Ingress Protection) rating requirement. All of our bathroom lighting carries at least an IP44 rating, which means the fittings are protected against water splashes from any direction, making them safe for use in the appropriate bathroom zones.

What does IP44 mean? IP44 is a safety rating that tells you how well protected a fitting is against solid particles and water. The first number (4) means it's protected against objects larger than 1mm, and the second number (4) means it can handle water splashes from any direction. For most bathroom zones, IP44 is the minimum standard you should be looking for.

Can I use pendant lights in a bathroom? Yes you can, and they look absolutely stunning in the right bathroom. Our IP44 rated pendant lights are designed specifically for use in bathrooms, bringing that industrial character into a space where you might not expect to find it. Always have them installed by a qualified electrician to make sure everything meets current regulations.

Where should bathroom lights be positioned? Good bathroom lighting usually works in layers. Overhead lighting provides general illumination while wall lights positioned either side of a mirror give you the most flattering and practical light for everyday tasks like applying makeup or shaving. Avoid placing a single light directly above a mirror as it tends to cast unflattering shadows.

Do I need an electrician to fit bathroom lighting? Yes, in most cases you will. Bathroom electrics are classified as a special location under UK wiring regulations, which means the work needs to be carried out by a qualified electrician. This isn't just a recommendation, it's a legal requirement in the UK and your electrician will be able to certify the work once it's complete.

Are your bathroom lights suitable for commercial use? Very much so. Our industrial bathroom lights are popular in hotels, restaurants, bars and other hospitality venues across the UK. If you're fitting out a commercial space and need something with real character that also meets safety requirements, take a look at the collection or get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
